Southern Lakes Anthology is a writing competition for all Elkhorn students, who may submit poetry, prose, cartoons, and illustrations. District teachers choose the final 24 pieces that will go on to UW-Whitewater competition for inclusion in the anthology.
The Geography Bee is a national competition. Students compete in rounds in the classroom; top finishers compete in the semi-final round where the top ten to twelve students will be chosen to compete in the Middle School Geography Bee in December.
Math 24 is a strategy game for sixth grade students, which uses integers and exponents. Any interested math student may practice for the team but by mid-February the math teachers will have chosen a large group, which will be whittled down to 24 students who will compete in the Math 24 Tournament.
Math Meet is a math competition where a select group of sixth graders will travel to compete against sixth graders from surrounding districts.
There is also a Math Meet for seventh and eighth graders to test their math skills against students from neighboring districts.
National Junior Honor Society is an organization which recognizes outstanding middle level students, who are chosen based on grades, service, leadership, citizenship, and character.
