GIRLS in Science:
Girls Entering Grades 6-8

Would you like to participate in scientific experiments, learn through hands-on activities and find out about a variety of scientific fields?
Girls in Science is meant to encourage science and mathematics for middle school girls, a time when many girls drop out of such programs. Girls who participate in this program work with UW-LaCrosse faculty, many of whom are women.
The goals of this program are to offer intensive academic exploration, provide students with the opportunity to work with other young women of similar abilities and interests, and create an environment in which no one feels the need to hide her talent. In addition to the science activities, the students are provided a full campus experience with an overnight stay in a campus residence hall, meals on campus and social activities with peer students, university student assistants and faculty. BOYS’ Science Exploration Camp:
Boys Entering Grades 6-8
June 21-22, 2014
Boys’ Science Exploration Camp encourages interest in science and math through hands-on learning and activities in an environment that is supportive, enriching, and most importantly – fun!
The boys work with UW-L faculty who encourage experimentation, investigation and involvement in math and science. In addition to the workshops, the boys experience a college campus, an overnight stay in a residence hall, campus meals and social activities with peers, university student assistants and faculty. UW-Green Bay Summer Camps

These camps are specific to academic niches, e.g. environmental science, health science, robotics & STEM, video game programming, app design and our flagship camps in music (band, orchestra, choir) and art (over a dozen studio courses each week). Students may commute or live in our campus dorms; all supervised with trained floor counselors.
Camp Invention
Camp Invention will be hosting several week-long summer day camps in the southeastern Wisconsin area throughout the summer. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to get hands-on experiences exploring their world! Please visit www.campinvention.org for more details &/or to register.
Environmental Explorers: Students Entering Grades 4-6 June 17-18, 2014 Upper Midwest Environmental Science Center, La Crosse, WI Grab your binoculars and hip boots! Discover the hidden treasures of nature living in and along the Mississippi River. Learn and perform field and laboratory techniques used by scientists studying the Upper Mississippi River. Collect and identify macro invertebrates, the small "critters" living in the mud and swimming in the water. Identify and learn about aquatic plants, trees, reptiles and amphibians of the floodplain forest. Observe and identify birds and the nests they make. Simulate tracking animals with radio transmitters. Navigate the forest and prairie using Global Positioning System, aerial photographs and land maps.
